1. What is NFC?

NFC (Near Field Communication) lets your phone read special tags by being close to them.


2. How do I know if my phone has NFC?

Most smartphones made after 2013 have NFC. To check if your phone has NFC:

  • Android: Go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences. If you see NFC, your phone has NFC.
  • iPhone: All iPhones from iPhone 7 and later have NFC.


3. How to turn on NFC on my phone?

  • Android:
    1. Open Settings.
    2. Tap Connected devices.
    3. Tap Connection preferences.
    4. Turn on NFC.
       
  • iPhone: NFC is already turned on for iPhones 7 and later. No need to do anything.


4. How to scan a Link-A-Charm™ NFC tag with an Android phone?

  1. Make sure NFC is turned on.
  2. Hold the Link-A-Charm™ tag near the back of your phone (middle or top depending on the phone model).
  3. You’ll see a message on your screen with the information from the tag.


5. How to scan a Link-A-Charm™ NFC tag with an iPhone?

  • iPhone 7, 8, and X:
    1. Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner.
    2. Tap the NFC Reader icon.
    3. Hold the top of your iPhone near the Link-A-Charm™ tag.
    4. You’ll see a message on your screen with the information from the tag.
       
  • iPhone XS, XR, 11, 12, 13, and later:
    1. Hold the top of your iPhone near the Link-A-Charm™ tag.
    2. The information from the tag will automatically appear on your screen.


6. Are there any security concerns with using NFC?

NFC is generally safe because it only works at close range. However, only scan tags from people or places you trust. Except for a few early prototype products, all Link-A-Charm™ products have our Link-A-Charm™ branding so you know they are authentic.


7. What should I do if my Link-A-Charm™ NFC tag is not working?

  • Make sure NFC is switched on (Android only).
  • Check the tag for any visible signs of damage.
  • Try different positions to find the NFC reader spot on your phone.
  • Try scanning with a different phone to see if the issue is with the tag or the phone.
  • Contact us if you still problems.
